4th of July

This 4th of July was different than any other we've had. It was so quiet! The girls were still in Idaho, and Tyler, having just returned from Boise, headed to the lake house to be with the McCombs'. So it was just the 3 of us at home. It was also a Sunday- Fast Sunday, which made it more different still.

I made Caleb breakfast, which he thoroughly enjoyed. (Odd to cook just 2 pancakes in the morning!) We went to church, and tried to keep it a normal Sunday. Family dinner, a walk, and some homemade lemon bars took up our late afternoon/early evening. Finally it was dark enough to light a few fireworks with Caleb. Then we drove down the hill to see the fireworks display from the Fairgrounds. This is our second year doing that. Just below Woodbine Cemetery, on either 9th or Fairview drive, you can just pull over to the side of the road and see the fireworks. It's a good show, close to home, free of charge, and free from crowds. Just the way we like it.
